Audlem is a picture perfect village in the southernmost part of Cheshire, only a mile from the Shropshire border.
Audlem is famous for its run of 15 locks on the Shropshire Union Canal. Take a stroll alongside the locks and enjoy extensive views across lakes, the River Weaver and the Overwater Marina.
The canal is a haven for wildlife and you’ll often spot kingfishers, herons, grey wagtails and even an otter or two.
History buffs will find plenty to explore when visiting this Cheshire village. St James' Church in Audlem dates from 1278 and is believed to be built on an ancient Celtic burial ground. In the square below the church is the attractive Buttermarket, a listed building with two rows of sandstone pillars.
Audlem has three excellent pubs, a range of cafés, shops and an eclectic events calendar.
