Historic Houses
Cheshire boasts a wealth of stunning stately homes and houses. One such example is Dunham Massey Hall, a stunning Georgian house set in 300 acres of grounds which also boasts Britain’s largest winter garden.
Little Moreton Hall and Gardens based near Congleton is another of Cheshire's National Trust properties. The Hall was built by the Moreton family in fifteenth century and is one of Britain’s largest and most famous timber framed buildings. Also boasting a tranquil orchard and a pretty Knot Garden, Little Moreton Hall is a great location for a family day out.
If you’re looking for a different flavour altogether, why not head to Lyme Park and Gardens in Disley. Originally built as a Tudor House, Lyme was transformed by the Venetian architect Leoni into an Italianate palace. Its stunning beauty and remote location give you an idea of the grandeur of the place, and once inside relax in the fully-restored library or delve back in time with its historic collection of clocks and ornate woodcarvings.
Finally, Tatton Park provides a terrific day out for families of all ages. Whether you want to visit The Old Hall, the historic and immaculate Mansion, the award-winning 50 acre gardens or Home Farm, there is something for everyone at Tatton.
