Land Army Days - Speaker: Grace Davenport
From 1942 till she was demobbed in 1946, Grace Davenport served in the Women's Land Army. In this talk, she recalls her experience working for Dennis Ferranti at Gawsworth Old Hall, where she and other women ploughed up 14 acres of ground to grow vegetables and fruit to supply shops and factories in Macclesfield and Congleton during the war.
